Kendey Eaton hit two free throws with five seconds remaining to lift Northwest to its first win of the 2019-20 season 66-64 over Minnesota Crookston.
The senior from Mound City finished with a game-high 30 points on 12-17 shooting and 4-4 at the free throw line.
Northwest (1-1) started slow shooting just 3-12 in the first quarter, but fought back in the second quarter to trail by just five at halftime.
Crookston's lead ballooned to nine in the third quarter, but two three-pointers from Erika Schlosser and an Eaton jumper cut the deficit to one.
Down four as the fourth quarter began, the Bearcats made another push. Three-point field goals from Schlosser, Mia Stillman and Kylie Coleman led a 9-2 charge that gave Northwest its first lead since it was 4-2 less than two minutes into the game.
Northwest pushed its lead to seven points with just over two minutes left in the game, but Crookston went on a 7-0 run to tie it with 23 seconds left in the game. Eaton drew a foul and got to the line where she sealed the game.
Schlosser finished with 11 points on 3-6 shooting from three-point range, and Jaelyn Haggard added 10 points and three assists.
Northwest will play its home opener Wednesday, November 13 against Kansas Christian at 6pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5:30pm.
